About Steve
I'm Steve. I make small AI experiments to find out which ideas survive contact with an afternoon. A tool should explain something, help finish a job, or make a worthwhile thing possible. Looking impressive in a demo is a separate skill.
This site is my shelf for those attempts. Strange, Then Simple starts with familiar things and looks for the causes hiding underneath. Other experiments may involve writing, images, or awkward bits of everyday work. I keep the scope small enough to notice when something fails.
I make these because trying a specific question teaches me more than collecting predictions about the future. I want to show the useful result and the limits that came with it.
I won't sell certainty, disguise generated work as firsthand evidence, or ask you to trust an answer because a model produced it. If an experiment needs qualifications, they belong beside the experiment itself.
